Key Objective

Project Research Officer – Gender Equity in Trades and Training is responsible for leading and supporting evidence-based research and evaluation of strategies aimed at improving recruitment and retention of women and gender-diverse people in male-dominated industries, particularly trades and technical training. This role will inform policy, practice, and program improvements across project partners in line with the Breaking Barriers initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of the Breaking Barriers research project in collaboration with partners
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative feminist research in a TAFE context
  • Develop workforce development activities, including capacity building and resource development
  • Represent WHIN in project meetings and on steering committees as required

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications and experience in health promotion, gender studies, community development and/or equivalent social policy discipline.
  2. Strong experience in social research (qualitative and quantitative), ideally in education, gender equity, or workplace settings.
  3. Demonstrated experience in conducting gender equity or intersectional feminist research.
  4. Demonstrated experience in facilitation, consultation and/or capacity building in gender equity.
  5. Experience in research translation and stakeholder engagement.
  6. Excellent written communication skills, including report writing, developing resources, and translating academic content for diverse audiences.
