About Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation

The Noongar Native Title Settlement is the most comprehensive native title agreement negotiated in Australian history. Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation is the regional corporation established under the Whadjuk People Indigenous Land Use Agreement to represent the Traditional Owners of the Whadjuk Agreement Area.

Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation has an important role in the South West Native Title Settlement with the Western Australian government. The settlement resolves all native title claims in the south west of the State in exchange for around $1.3 billion in land and other benefits for Noongar people.

Chief Executive Officer

This is a unique opportunity to further develop operations and establish progressive and sustainable outcomes which will enhance the social, cultural, and economic prosperity of the Whadjuk people.

Reporting to the Board, your core duties will include:

  1. Provide strategic direction, leadership, and management.
  2. Ensure compliance with the range of native title, statutory, legal, financial, and contractual obligations.
  3. Ensure compliance with governance and trust structures.
  4. Ensure financial performance and viability, developing resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the corporation.
  5. Represent the interests and deliver services to the Noongar Community of the Whadjuk Region.
  6. Ensure that the culture and heritage are maintained, recorded, protected, and shared in the community.
  7. Empower the Board of Directors to strategically position itself as the leader in social and commercial development, governance, and economic development opportunities.
  8. Engage with members, common law holders, and all other stakeholders.
  9. Lead the development of strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement activities.
  10. Proactively manage all related media, public relations and stakeholder engagement.
  11. Lead, recruit, workforce plan, and build capacity in the corporation’s staff.

  2. Ability to convey a vision of Whadjuk Aboriginal Corporation’s strategic future to staff, board, and community.
  3. Highly developed financial management skills. The ability to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  4. Proven ability to communicate sensitively and effectively in a culturally appropriate manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities, and organisations.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders including Board members, staff, members/community, government, business, and philanthropy.
  6. Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
  7. Strong organisational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  9. Demonstrated ability to oversea and collaborate with an expansive diverse workforce.
  10. Strong public speaking ability.
