Aboriginal Mental Health Liaison Officer

Western Health are recruiting for an experienced Aboriginal Mental Health Liaison Officer (AMHLO) to join Wilim Berrbang.

The AMHLO provides a liaison and support service to Aboriginal patients, their families and carers across Western Health. The successful incumbent will contribute to Western Health's culturally sensitive, safe and welcoming environment to Aboriginal people, and help patients navigate the hospital system.

This position is available part-time on a ongoing basis.

To be Successful in this Role you, will:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

  • Have an understanding of Aboriginal health issues, systems and policies at the local, state and federal level.
  • Demonstrate a commitment and capability to make a positive difference in Aboriginal health and wellbeing.
  • Have a sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, society and kinship networks.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work as a member of a team with a range of community and professional groups.
  • Be able to work autonomously within a variety of settings.
  • Have well-developed interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
