The West Daly Regional Council covers 14,000 square kilometres and is located about 300 to 420 kilometres south-west of Darwin. The area is mainly rural, with three Indigenous communities at Peppimenarti, Palumpa and Wadeye which are managed by West Daly Regional Council (Council).

Position Summary
The Pool Attendant at West Daly Regional Council's Wadeye Swimming Pool is responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and clean swimming environment for the enjoyment of residents and visitors. This position requires a commitment to safety, customer service, maintenance, and compliance with relevant legislation.
Reporting Line
This position reports to the Pool Coordinator.
Primary Tasks
Customer Service:
- Supervise the general public and organised groups using the pool and facilities to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment.
- Interact with customers in a polite, friendly, and courteous manner at all times.
- Observe behaviours and ensure that the highest standards of public safety are maintained, and issues are managed in a timely manner.
Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the swimming pool, surrounding areas, plant room, and storage areas.
- Regularly inspect and clean changing rooms, toilets, and showers, addressing any issues promptly.
- Ensure all equipment is safe, in good working condition, and suitably stored.
- Report any damage or deterioration of the plant, pools, building, and grounds immediately.
- With support from the Swimming Pool Coordinator, operate and maintain pool pumps, cleaning equipment, and water quality equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
Safety and Rescue:
- Undertake rescues and perform basic first aid as needed to ensure the safety of pool users.
- Ensure the facility is correctly secured outside of normal operating hours.
- Ensure hazards and risks are identified, documented and addressed appropriately in a timely manner.
Maintenance Support:
- Undertake general maintenance and labouring tasks associated with pool maintenance.
Compliance:
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with legislative, industrial, and Council policy requirements and standards in the area of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS).
Other:
- Be responsible for opening and closing procedures in addition to ensuring the maintenance of water quality and plant operations according to legislation.
- Carry out any other duties as required.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Bronze Medallion Certification
- Current First Aid Certificate with current CPR
- Pool Plant Operators Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated previous experience in a similar position.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and direction.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe handling and storage of chemicals.
- Experience in working with Indigenous people in remote areas and/or situations requiring;
- Cultural sensitivity and communication skills.
- A working knowledge of the principles of Workplace Health Safety regulations.
- Personal integrity and good interpersonal skills.
- Current Working with Children Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work with limited supervision and direction.
- Knowledge of the local community.
- An appropriate qualification or experience or a willingness to undergo appropriate training.
- Ability to read and write.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills together with a friendly disposition.
