Working as part of the SHS Consortium to provide youth work, casework and case management services to young people aged 12 to 25 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the City of Sydney LGA.

The SHS Caseworker provides client centred early intervention, prevention, casework, case management, outreach support, practical assistance, housing support, information and referral, tenancy and support services to young people.

You will work in a highly responsive, proactive and innovative way and develop collaborative relationships with other services to ensure holistic support to the Inner City. You will feel supported through regular supervision, access to peer review, opportunities for training and development and a friendly and experienced team around you.

Classification for this position is SCHADS Award Level 4 Paypoint 1-4 depending on qualifications and experience. Hourly rate range: $38.14 - $41.09 per hour depending on qualifications and experience plus significant salary packaging benefits.

Selection criteria:

Qualifications, experience and mandatory requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s in Social Work, Youth Work, Social Sciences or similar
  • Minimum two years experience in a caseworker role providing support to people with complex trauma histories and support needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads and prioritise work as required
  • Sound knowledge of integrated case management theory and best practice principles for young people
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with the youth sector, Juvenile Justice, child protection and SHS services
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant referral pathways to health, education, employment, recreational, cultural, housing, mental health, legal, drug and alcohol and other support services
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people and communities, and an understanding of the strengths of Aboriginal people and the impacts of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal people residing in the City of Sydney LGA
  • Understanding and demonstrated experience of working within a trauma informed and healing centred, strength based, person centred, and culturally appropriate framework
  • An ability to understand and manage community dynamics
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some weekend work as required
  • NSW Working with Children Clearance
  • Driver’s License
