safe steps Family Violence Response Centre is the state-wide 24/7 service for women and children experiencing family violence, providing immediate support, information, advocacy, referral and emergency accommodation. safe steps is the central point of contact for the specialist family violence service system across Victoria.

You will be working in a feminist organisation with supportive and friendly colleagues and managers that are committed both to ending family violence and your ongoing development.

Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm. North Melbourne and 5 to 10km North West of CBD. The Family Violence Resource Worker will be required to work across both sites when required.

This position:

  • Provides administration assistance to the response services and family support service teams
  • Liaise between the family violence advocate and the client
  • Organise documentation, services, actions and purchases for the client as identified by the family violence advocate
  • Provide back-up support for the other Resource Workers

Essential experience

  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role including administration and client support
  • Experience supporting clients and maintaining boundaries
  • You will have well developed oral and written communication skills and show initiative and attention to detail.
  • You will enjoy working in a busy team environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite
  • Must have a valid Driver’s licence

Desirable experience

  • Qualifications in administration and/or community/social services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Family Violence Service System.
