Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a “state-wide entry point” for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, Webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation.

Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.

Our practice is trauma-informed and guided by evidence. We provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Full Time Manager, Family Violence Practice to join our growing team!

The Manager, Family Violence Practice plays a significant role in facilitating excellence in practice and clinical outcomes across the organisation. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Centre of Excellence (COE) Team, driving high quality and consistent services and championing clinical leadership to enable Safe Steps’ frontline to deliver quality outcomes for clients and meet contractual service levels agreed with the funder. The incumbent will implement and support programs and initiatives across Safe Steps with reference to professional development, staff wellbeing, clinical quality improvement and best practice policy and guidelines development. The incumbent will also provide support to the Executive Manager- Practice and Clinical Excellence with sector representation.

PAY LEVEL: SCHADS Level 7 - Pay Point $58.23 - $60.66 per hour (depending on experience)
CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full Time (Hybrid role)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Best Practice and Clinical Excellence

  • Contribute to best practice-based advice and guidance to staff, based on evidence and applicable professional standards
  • Provide complex client case/conditions consultations to frontline staff

Staff Wellbeing and Professional Development

  • Support and contribute to service-related training and professional development
  • With the Executive Manager, lead reflective practice and contribute to clinical supervision across the organisation for frontline staff

Research, Data and Reports

  • Contribute to routine COE reporting requirements, accurately capturing the key activities and outcomes completed by the Executive Manager
  • Design, prepare and report on reflective practice outcomes, trends and considerations for leadership

Leadership

  • Participate in Government and/or Sector communities of practice, RAMPs, advisory groups, and working groups, providing family violence best practice advice.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or other relevant qualification or equivalent experience
  2. At least 5 years’ experience in a service delivery environment for family violence issues
  3. At least 5 years’ clinical supervision experience, preferably in the Family Violence Sector, within both individual and group modalities
  4. At least 5 years’ experience in practice policy development in the social services field, preferably in the Family Violence Sector
  5. Leadership experience and ability to manage teams and/or projects
  6. Experience in promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity within an organisation.
  7. Understanding of the unique challenges faced by priority groups including the LGBTIQ+ community and strategies to address them.
  8. Willingness to commit to the living expression of Safe Steps values; Integrity, Diversity and Empowerment.
  9. A current Working With Children Check and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
