safe steps Family Violence Response Centre is the state-wide 24/7 service for women and children experiencing violence providing immediate support, information, advocacy, referral and emergency accommodation. safe steps is the central point of contact for the specialist family violence service system across Victoria.

You will be working in a feminist organisation with supportive and friendly colleagues and managers that are committed both to ending family violence and your ongoing development.

This unique position:

  • Provides short term case management over the telephone to clients experiencing family violence
  • Maintains daily contact with clients over a 2 to 10 day period
  • Walks alongside women and children to assist them in navigating the family violence system by liaising with, advocating for, assisting with referrals and securing access to appropriate support agencies such as legal, medical and accommodation
  • Identifies and assesses for additional needs and secures access to the services and pathways required by clients
  • Maintains a case-load of clients

About you:

As a seasoned Case Manager possessing experience in Risk Assessment and delivering therapeutic interventions, you are adept at working with women who have experienced family violence preferably within the sectors of mental health, housing or drug and alcohol.  Naturally you possess tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Welfare or psychology or related discipline.

You demonstrate outstanding ability in dealing with clients with complex needs in a supportive, empathetic and effective manner in a demanding, fast paced work environment. In addition, you demonstrate resilience and are adept at maintaining your composure, effectively engaging with clients in crisis.
