  • Award Classification: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) Crisis Accommodation Level 2 (depending on experience) plus superannuation.

About the role

We are recruiting a Case Worker on a full time basis for Camden Women’s Shelter to work with women who are homeless in a crisis accommodation setting. The position is a fixed term contract for 18 months with the possibility of extension.

This is a new role as Camden Women’s Shelter is expanding their services to provide crisis accommodation to single women. The shelter is staffed 5 days a week (reporting to a Shelter Manager working office hours) therefore flexibility for early mornings, evenings and on-call shifts are essential.

Women’s Community Shelters are dedicated to supporting and empowering women to take control and move on with their lives. Our clients are supported with client-centric and trauma informed case management and are supported to secure more permanent accommodation and pursue other goals, such as, studying, re-training, legal, employment, financial, family and recreational.

An understanding of the homelessness sector, awareness around current issues and practice in domestic violence and good knowledge of housing pathways are key skills for this role.

Essential criteria

  • Cert IV in Community Services or Minimum 5 years’ experience working with women who are homeless.
  • Demonstrated experience within the community services sector in a case worker capacity, preferably in women’s services.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of family violence and abuse and how best to support survivors, including the impacts of trauma on women.
  • An understanding of Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to use online case management systems
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • The right to live and work in Australia
