Wayside Chapel are looking for a casual Retail Assistant to join our Op Shops located in Potts Point and North Bondi. These are some of Sydney’s most popular second-hand clothes destinations, with a curated range of eclectic, fashion leading, quality bargains. The Op Shops are an integral part of the Wayside organisation. You will work alongside Wayside volunteers and a diverse, supportive team.

About you

You are an adaptable and innovative team member, with excellent communication and customer service skills. As one of our Retail Assistants you will bring to Wayside Op Shops an interest in fashion and have a great eye for detail. If you are looking for on-going shift work in a supportive and diverse retail environment, then we want to hear from you!

You will have:

• A knowledge of working in a customer facing environment, such as retail or hospitality
• Understanding of store operations and maintenance, including daily reconciliation and cash handling
• Assist with inventory turnover, quality control and visual merchandising
• Experience undertaking administrative duties including customer emails and queries and phone calls
• Working knowledge of MS Office Products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to build rapport with diverse types of people, and be openly non-judgmental, considerate, respectful, and kind.
• Availability to work at least 22.5 hours per week, across all hours our shops are open, including weekends.

Ideally you will also have:

• Experience in a retail or customer-facing business
• An eye for fashion and detail
• Knowledge of the secondhand retail market
• Working knowledge of social media and content creation
• The ability to use a variety of apps, programs and e-commerce sites such as Shopify.
