  • REMUNERATION: SCHADS Level 6 ($94,000), super, 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata)
  • HOURS: 22.5 hours per week, with flexible conditions
  • TERM: Part-time, fixed-term contract until December 2025
  • LOCATION: Level 1/19 Essex St, Fremantle WA 6160

ABOUT WASEC

The Western Australian Social Enterprise Council (WASEC) is the peak body democratically representing social enterprises in WA. WASEC was founded in 2019 by a volunteer Board of dedicated social entrepreneur leaders to develop and define the WA social enterprise sector and provide a forum for mutual support.

WASEC’s mission is to build a thriving social enterprise sector in Western Australia. Our ambition is for a just, inclusive, and sustainable society, where all businesses have a positive social, cultural, or environmental impact.

Our strategic objectives are to:

  1. Build a connected social enterprise sector in WA
  2. Create opportunities for social enterprises to learn, share and scale their impact
  3. Increase the influence and impact of social enterprise in WA

PURPOSE OF ROLE

WASEC is seeking an Engagement Lead to help us build a thriving social enterprise sector across WA.

This role will work closely with the WASEC CEO and WASEC members to implement our membership engagement strategy; engage social enterprises across Western Australia through strategic events; coordinate the ‘Communities of Practice’ initiative; project manage the design and implementation of a new website & CRM; deliver improved digital communications; support the development of WASEC’s advocacy platform; and evaluate and report on activities.

This role will be employed by Impact Seed Partnerships, as the auspicing body for WASEC. This will be a fixed contract 3 days per week until 31 December 2025, with the possibility of extension and the possibility of additional days, depending on funding.

As WASEC is still in its start-up phase, this role will suit a person keen to design and implement good practices and systems. In our small team, we celebrate personal leadership and initiative, so this is the perfect role for a self-motivated person looking to grow and develop a career in a for-purpose environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Member Engagement

  • Lead the implementation of WASEC’s Membership Engagement Strategy
  • Lead WASEC’s ‘Communities of Practice’ initiative
  • Coordinate member surveys and focus groups
  • Plan and deliver a calendar of social enterprise sector events (including a social enterprise awards program and conference over the next two years).
  • Monitor the WASEC membership database

Communications

  • Develop and maintain routine online communication activities (e-news and social media)
  • Lead the development and ongoing management of the WASEC website
  • Monitor WASECs general email account
  • Work with the CEO to deliver WASEC publications (including the WASEC annual report and WASEC research reports)

Advocacy

  • Maintain a current, broad understanding of the social enterprise sector
  • Support the CEO to implement WASEC’s Advocacy Strategy
  • Support the CEO to seek opportunities to advance the interests of our members
  • Support the CEO to develop policy submissions to government as they arise

Organisational Development

  • Support the evaluation and reporting of WASEC activities
  • Support the CEO to establish and improve organisational systems, such as internal communications, file management, financial management, etc.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Knowledge and Skills required

  1. Experience and ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the community sector, government, business and philanthropy
  2. Ability to manage websites and create content on a wide variety of digital platforms
  3. Experience planning, promoting and managing high-profile events
  4. Stellar organisational and administrative skills
  5. Ability to prepare quality written reports on project activities
  6. Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role

  1. A commitment to support and promote the overall objectives of WASEC
  2. Self-motivation and ability to deal with a high level of responsibility
  3. Adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team
  4. Be a champion of inclusive practices and embrace new ways to make our work
    more accessible

Extra credit

  1. Knowledge and understanding of social enterprise
  2. Experience in social policy analysis and systems advocacy
  3. Demonstrated experience in establishing new systems and procedures in office administration and business support
  4. Experience and competence with Wordpress, GSuite, Zoom, Monday.com, Slack, Mailchimp, and Humanitix.
  5. Experience applying for external grant funding
