About us

The Warrior Woman Foundation is a fully fledged Australian Charity which was founded in 2020 in Sydney NSW. We are very excited to expand to Newcastle in 2025.

The Warrior Woman network was formed to bring like-minded women together to identify and create ways to support the young women of Australia who are our future, ensuring they are seen, heard, and valued. We are a strong and active national women’s support movement of positive women who are mothers, business owners, community leaders, as well as advocates for the advancement of women in Australia.

The Warrior Woman Foundation provides holistic evidence-based support programs for under-represented vulnerable young Australian women aged 17 - 25+ years who lack the necessary familial or community support to become resilient and independent.

We have a particular focus on young women at risk of not completing their final years of high school, young women leaving the out-of-home care system and young women who would simply benefit from some guidance and direction.

Our flagship program, the 6-month Young Warrior Woman Program combines life-skills education, mental health support, and the connection to a safe and nurturing group of female mentors. The program has a strong focus on financial literacy and job readiness, as well as trauma healing, self-awareness, and personal growth. The program bridges the gap between adolescence and the “emerging adulthood” stage.

To ensure that these young women do not fall through the cracks we provide a strong safety net of support which includes peer support, group mentoring and weekly one-to-one mentoring. Based on the Self Determination Theory model, our mission is to empower young women to become resilient, independent and capable of taking their place in the world.

With a successful outcome in 2025, the role has room to grow in future years as WE do!

Hourly rate is between $35-$50 plus GST (if registered) and will vary depending on experience and qualifications.

Role Duties

Alongside the Regional Program Manager, you will be required to interview each Mentor applicant. This process is very important and difficult, as based on the previous year, every applicant had the potential to be an amazing Mentor. We strive for a Mentor group that has a diverse range of personalities and skills, as all of the mentees will be different.

Prior to the program you will recruit the young women living in out-of-home care (or similar) for the Young Warrior Woman Program. This will involve you:

  • Forming relationships with caseworkers/youth workers at refuges, shelters and temporary accommodation to share the details of the mentoring program to their clients. This process requires time and patience.
  • With the help of the Regional Program Coordinator, you will be required to interview each Mentee via Zoom.
  • Compiling the application information and begin to assess potential support and needs.
  • Ensuring each mentee is across the details of the program and continue to follow up that they are committed to the program.

Following the selection of 30 mentors and 30 mentees, you will support the pairing of each mentor/mentee alongside the Regional Program Manager. To support this process, it is suggested throughout the interview processes you take note of small details as these things can be what can lead to an amazing pairing!

During the program you will be required to facilitate and attend all Young Warrior Woman Program events.

This will require you to:

  • Coordinate/liaise with speakers, mentors and mentees.
  • Coordinate the technology during the Zoom calls (break out rooms, muting, waiting rooms)
  • Exert confidence and enthusiasm, particularly during the online events.
  • Keep note of engagement/attendance and follow up with both our mentors and mentees to ensure there are no logistical issues.
  • Take charge set up and pack up (an hour either side) during the face-to-face workshops alongside the Warrior Woman team.
  • Ensure all members are comfortable, safe, their needs are being met and we are abiding by our duty of care.
  • Facilitate a monthly check in with each mentor to see how their mentorship is going, if they require any support and if there are any additional needs of the mentee that are not currently being met.
  • Keep accurate and orderly records.

In this role you will be the first point of call for the mentors and mentees. You will be responsible for hearing through any issues that may be occurring. This can range from coordinating transport to a face-to- face workshop all the way to ensuring physical safety and intensive mental health support. The range of support required to each mentor/mentee pairing is dependent on the needs of each mentor/mentee. You will be responsible for assessing this and proactively providing the level of support required. In terms of more emergent issues, you will discuss these with the CEO and together form an action plan which may include linking into a service and contacting caseworkers, similar to a triage.

Responding to these issues will in time become first nature, and we hope you will form meaningful relationships with each mentor/mentee. Understanding that there are a lot of people in the program (60), this can be as little as remembering a small detail. This will require you to be organised. You will be supported in creating a system that assists you in keeping across engagement, attendance and any issues that may be occurring.
