ABOUT US

Wallumatta Legal is a low fee, not-for-profit family law firm. We are a social justice project that aims to offer affordable legal advice and representation to the “missing middle” (that is, low to middle income earners).

We are an innovate legal practice where the focus is on client outcomes, producing work of the highest standard, and an excellent team culture.

Founded in 2021 through a partnership between DLA Piper and Macquarie University, we are now operating a full-service family law firm with eight lawyers across New South Wales and Victoria and are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to help support the team.

  • General diary management, including arranging client appointments
  • Processing client intakes
  • Monthly billing and reporting
  • Cost agreement preparation
  • File management (using Smokeball)
  • Preparing correspondence and legal documents
  • Working with the forms and processes of the FCFCOA
  • Preparing briefs to counsel
  • Supervising and directing student interns
  • Coordinating the legal support team and being the escalation point for internal enquiries
  • Working with the Managing Principal and General Manager on special projects and process improvement across the practice.
  • Provision of other administrative support as required by the team.

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role you will need to have:

  • previous legal assistant experience in family law
  • an agile approach to project management and business process improvement
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • well-developed organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage deadlines and shifting priorities
  • strong attention to detail
  • a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
  • the ability to work both within a team and autonomously; and
  • the desire to make a positive impact.

In return you will have the opportunity to be part of our growth and be a member of a dynamic and genuinely supportive team.
