Wallumatta Legal is a low fee, not for profit family law firm, founded by DLA Piper and Macquarie University. Housed on campus at the University, it is a social justice project which aims to offer affordable legal advice and representation for low to middle income Australians.

We are seeking to grow our legal team and are recruiting for a talented and enthusiastic family lawyer (both full time and part time applicants are welcome).

YOUR ROLE

If you have at least 3 years’ experience in family law and a passion for access to justice, this will be your opportunity to work alongside a dynamic team in an innovative legal practice where we measure success on more than financial results - focusing on achieving optimal outcomes for our clients, the quality of our work and an excellent team culture.

We offer flexible work arrangements and operate on a hybrid model.

In this role you will report directly to the Head of Legal and get to demonstrate your family law skills and experience by:

• providing advice and representation to clients
• drafting legal documents including correspondence and court documents; and
• appearing at the FCFCOA.

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

• minimum of 3 years post admission experience in family law
• experience in providing family law advice and representing clients including property and parenting matters
• experience in attending court and briefing counsel
• excellent written and verbal communication skills
• developed organisation and time management skills
• strong attention to detail
• a desire to broaden your network
• the ability to work within a team and autonomously
• an appetite for applying technology to improve the delivery of, and accessibility, to legal services; and
• a goal to make a positive impact where it really matters!
