Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our marketing team as a Communications and Digital Marketing Coordinator. You will work closely with the Communications Manager, contributing to a diverse range of engaging activities. This is a dynamic role where no two days are ever the same. We require an adaptable and creative individual to help generate fresh ideas and solutions to advance the communication efforts of Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
This role requires travel across Wadawurrung Country.
About Us:
Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation (WTOAC) is a Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic) and was established in 1998. WTOAC is governed by a Board of Directors of Traditional Owners. Each Director represents a Family Group of the Wadawurrung People. Its role is to protect and advance the aspirations of Wadawurrung People by managing their cultural heritage rights and interests, as well as supporting them in the achievement of the goals and aspirations as outlined in the Wadawurrung Country Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Manager to assist with communications efforts.
- Assist in developing and implementing the organisation's communications strategy to raise Wadawurrung's profile in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Identify media opportunities and cultivate relationships with the media for Wadawurrung and the organisation's Traditional Owner base.
- Collaborate with WTOAC staff and stakeholders to develop and evaluate a communications calendar for Traditional Owners and Elders.
- Enhance community engagement by creating and managing a social media calendar and developing content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Write newsletters, articles, letters, draft internal communications activities and opinion pieces to support WTOAC stakeholders and staff.
- Provide project management and administrative support for WTOAC's events.
- Help build WTOAC's new website including content and oversee WTOAC's digital and media assets.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent copywriting, editing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms such as Adobe, Creative Suit.
- Proficiency in social media management including Linkedin, Instagram and Facebook.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Creative thinking with the ability to generate innovative ideas.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Desirable - experience working with First Nation Organisation
Key Selection Criteria:
- Qualification in either Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or another related field or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a communications role.
- Ability to foster close stakeholder relationships that can deliver positive outcomes.
- Ability to understand complex ideas and distil them into easily accessible language for a range of audiences (Copywriting).
- Demonstrating a keen eye for detail and precision in crafting written content and conducting thorough proofreading.
- Experience in website maintenance, including the use of Content Management System (CMS), Wordpress and WIX
- Experience in developing social media strategies and implementation.
- Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbally
- Current Victorian drivers license.
