NITA provides industry training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aspiring to a career in the tourism and hospitality industry. This position is based at Ayers Rock Resort just outside the world famous Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park and on the lands of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara and Yankuntjatjrra peoples. NITA supports up to 120 new recruits each year to achieve learning success, gain practical experience and to improve career opportunities for our First Nations People, entering the workforce.

Your new role

Our team has the privilege to deliver tailored and customised training to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people with various learning needs, educational backgrounds and personal experiences. You will be expected to deliver training and assess in line with the ASQA accreditation and standards with a focus on a Certificate III in Hospitality through resort operations such as Food & Beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping, Porter and Kitchen positions

As an ambassador of the NITA you will build relationships and work with the entire Ayers Rock Resort team to achieve Indigenous employment, training and business development goals through your practical training.

To be successful you will have:

  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment with the two below units included:
    • TAELLN411 – Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills
    • TAEASS502 – Design and Develop Assessment Tools
  • Certificate III in Hospitality or higher education in this sector
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospitality management preferably in a hotel/resort environment

You will

  • Demonstrated experience to effectively communicate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and a knowledge and understanding of the importance of culture.
  • High level oral and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both in a small, busy team environment and independently to achieve outcomes.
  • Ability to lead by example including professional etiquette, work standards and positive outlook.
