This is an exciting, newly created role working with the Peak Body for Volunteering and the Community Information Service Provider for the Canberra region. We have an opportunity for a Food Security Project Coordinator to engage with community organisations, our members, partners, and a wide range of other stakeholders to coordinate the codesign of Food Security projects supporting food and emergency relief services in the Canberra region.
You will take a leading role in developing and delivering a range of projects, including community engagement, data research and analysis activities, creation of a Food Relief Network, and key communication strategies.

VolunteeringACT is the peak body for volunteering and community information in the Canberra region, as well as being a service provider of programs for people experiencing disadvantage and isolation, people with disability, and people needing support for mental wellness.

Responsibilities of the role
- Establish a Food Relief Network for the region that enables providers to network, share best practice and create partnerships and connections.
- Utilising codesign methodology, support the development of a food security database in partnership with key stakeholders, including scoping, procurement, development, testing and evaluation.
- Provide high level secretariat for the Food Security Database Advisory Committee.
- Design research and analysis activities from the data produced within the database to inform policy and advocacy.
- Develop the scope and procurement of a communication strategy and deliver upon key objectives.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with relevant Community service providers and other stakeholders in emergency and food relief in the Canberra region.
- Research and compile information regarding emergency and food relief providers to provide ongoing up to date referral pathways
- Work in partnership and communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, staff, volunteers and stakeholders to ensure the emergency food relief is directly reaching those in the community experiencing financial hardship.
- Work from our Community Info Hub and support members of the public to assess services, programs and events.
- Contribute to organisational priorities including ongoing program alignment and partnering.
- Respond to all general enquiries including resolving member and VACT’s online platform enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all interactions with external stakeholders.
- Identify, research, and recommend new service or product opportunities in line with operational and strategic plans.
- Actively and professionally represent the organisation at events, expos and meetings including identifying other opportunities to work collaboratively.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- High level experience in delivering projects that exceeded key objectives, developing reporting tools to monitor outcomes and managing projects to budget.
- Demonstrated time management skills and initiative.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication skills and ensuring an exceptional stakeholder engagement experience
- Efficient at using IT platforms and databases including maintaining accurate and timely records.
