  • Full-time ongoing position (part-time at 9 days per fortnight considered)
  • Salary range: $123,625 – $157,340 (pro rata) plus super plus salary packaging

 About the role

In this role, you will provide up-to-date, specialist employment and workplace relations advice and expertise to our HR team, as well as to the broader People and Workplace Services (PAWS) leadership team.

You will be responsible for ensuring VLA's workforce has access to contemporary people management policies, practices and systems to ensure ongoing Employee Relations (ER) / Industrial Relations compliance.

You will take the lead in supporting the organisation in the resolution of difficult workplace issues, disputes, and grievances as well as disciplinary concerns, workplace investigations and change consultations.

Working closely with the Associate Director, Advisory/Resourcing/Payroll you will manage key relationships such as the union and other stakeholders.

You will also work closely with PAWS' managers as they support  VLA's people strategy and carry out major priorities to support and offer a safe and inclusive workplace for VLA staff.

This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country. 

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Significant experience in employee/workplace relations, including the provision of high-quality strategic advice and the management of complex people and industrial relations matters.
  • Significant experience in planning, negotiation, implementation and post-implementation review of Enterprise Agreements and demonstrated experience in the interpretation and operationalisation of industrial instruments, legislation and legal advice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and manage relationships effectively to achieve objectives.
  • The ability to lead, educate, coach and develop others and champion change, leading by example and supporting continuous improvement in ER practices.
  • A law degree and unrestricted Victorian practising certificate (mandatory).
