About the Role

The TAFE Disability Transition Support Officer will provide support for students with disabilities transitioning from secondary school to TAFE. 

Working within a ‘set-up-for-success’ framework this position is responsible for supporting with aspiration, pathways, admission and enrolment and oversight of case-management of students throughout their first 90 days of study. 

The role will partner with secondary schools to develop student aspiration and preparation for the TAFE learning environment. 

The role is part of the Student Equity, Safety and Wellbeing Team which provide and link a number of support services to students that elevate access, participation, retention and success.

Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Providing advice to students with disabilities and their families about the opportunities available through VU TAFE including open days and on-campus experiences.
  • Developing a plan for the student’s first 90 days of study, outlining supports and key actions to be undertaken during the period to make the transition easier
  • Collaborate with other VU TAFE teams and VU partner organisations (such as ASPECT) to identify opportunities and implement strategies to provide broader awareness and understanding of the pathway process and requirements.
  • Proactively communicating with relevant secondary school disability support units/officers (and career support units, if appropriate) to develop and provide information on how to help secondary students understand the TAFE environment.
  • Participating and contributing to the TAFE Network Disability Transition Officer Community of Practice. 

This position is at a HEP Level 5 classification, salary range is $73,852 - $84,831 annum plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. This position is offered for a fixed term period until June 2026. Travel to other campuses or secondary schools will be required.
