About Us
The Victorian Pride Centre is a landmark hub for LGBTIQA+ communities, fostering connection, visibility, and advocacy. As a vibrant community space in St Kilda, the Pride Centre is home to numerous LGBTIQ+ organisations, events, and initiatives.
About the Role
We’re looking for a welcoming, organised, and people-focused Concierge and Volunteer Coordinator to be the first point of contact at the Pride Centre. In this vital role, you’ll help create a warm and inclusive environment while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Centre. You’ll also lead our volunteer program - recruiting, training, and supporting a passionate team who help bring the Centre to life. If you’re someone who thrives on connection, community, and creating great experiences, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Concierge Operations: Lead the concierge team in delivering day-to-day front desk services, including welcoming visitors and providing LGBTIQ+ inclusive support and referrals.
- Volunteer Program: Recruit, train, supervise, and support a team of dedicated volunteers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and workplace policies.
- Front of House Management: Oversee the maintenance of front of house areas such as kitchens, amenities, and meeting rooms, ensuring they are presentable and functional.
- Event Support: Work closely with the Venue & Facilities Coordinator and Event & Program Manager to coordinate event setups and front of house requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness: Ensure concierge and event volunteers are trained in safety, evacuation, and emergency procedures, responding and escalating issues as required.
- Volunteer Engagement: Deliver ongoing engagement, feedback, and recognition initiatives to foster a strong and inclusive volunteer culture.
- Database & Communication: Maintain the volunteer database and proactively communicate with staff, volunteers, and tenants on relevant concierge and volunteer program matters.
About You
You’re a people person at heart—warm, organised, and calm under pressure. You’re passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming spaces and have a deep appreciation for the value of volunteers in community settings. Whether it’s greeting visitors, managing the front of house, or coordinating a team, you thrive in roles that are dynamic, service-focused, and community-driven. If you're confident dealing with diverse situations and love supporting people to shine, this role is for you.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in customer service, volunteer coordination, or a similar community-facing role.
- Confidence and empathy in managing challenging situations and individuals with professionalism.
- A strong understanding of inclusive practice and LGBTIQ+ communities, with a commitment to equity and respect.
- Proven ability to supervise, support and engage volunteers, including providing training, feedback, and recognition.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience coordinating projects and working collaboratively across teams and stakeholders.
- High-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Strong digital literacy, with the ability to learn new systems and manage volunteer data.
- A proactive, flexible attitude with a willingness to lead by example in all aspects of customer service and volunteer engagement.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with volunteer management platforms (e.g. Volgistics, Salesforce).
- Training or qualifications in volunteer management, community services, or de-escalation/emergency response.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed practice and a strong understanding of the current issues impacting LGBTIQ+ communities.
