ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Finance Officer is responsible for assisting in the administering of Expression Australia’s payroll, accounts payable and receivable, debt collection, petty cash, and bank reconciliations working in conjunction with the other finance staff.

This is a 12 month full time role based in East Melbourne with flexible working arrangements available.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process payroll and associated activities in line with Finance Department procedures
  • Maintain all financial records/reconciliations in accordance with record keeping procedures/requirements
  • Ensure all payroll administration is processed effectively and efficiently with support of other finance staff
  • Respond to all payroll and general finance queries
  • Prepare and processing of customer/client invoices for payment
  • Follow up on overdue invoices
  • Bank reconciliations including receipting of all income
  • Reconciling corporate credit card statements and employee expense claims
  • Assisting in general finance responsibilities as required.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience in payroll, accounts payable and receivable, debt collection and bank reconciliation and associated software, experience with the KeyPay payroll system is desirable
  • Competence with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to liaise with individuals at all levels in a friendly, responsive and timely manner
  • Ability to apply integrity and ethics to all work related matters and ensures personal compliance within privacy and confidentiality legislation requirements
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to successfully manage competing issues and deadlines
  • Strong team focused approach both within department and with external departments
  • Strong IT are and advantage
  • IAS, AAB, and AAS knowledge and practical application (desirable)
  • A basic understanding of the general legislative framework regarding corporate management (desirable)
  • Auslan Language skills (minimum Level 2)

Please note: As an NDIS provider, Expression Australia is required to conduct compliance checks including Police Check & Disability Worker Screening checks against the preferred candidate before the candidate’s employment being confirmed i.e. before a contract of employment is provided.
