About Us:
The Vet's North is in the process of establishing a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through unique opportunities in the veterinary and animal care sector. Our goals are to provide people with disabilities opportunities for social connection through interactions with dogs, training and supported employment in the animal care industries.
Job Overview:
We are currently seeking passionate, dynamic, and experienced Board Members to guide and support our organisation as we commence operations, grow and impact more lives. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about our mission and who has a track record of board leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership, Governance, and Oversight: Serve as a trusted advisor to the Operations Team as they develop and implement the strategic plan.
- Fundraising and Outreach: Actively assist the Operations Manager and board in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organisation to advance its mission.
- Board Meetings: Attend and participate in regular board meetings, as well as special events as able.
- Committee Participation: Serve on committees or task forces and take on special assignments as needed.
- Ambassadorship: Represent the organisation to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organisation.
- Compliance: Ensure the organisation adheres to legal standards and ethical norms.
Qualifications:
- Must be a genuine lover of the bond between humans and animals, with a compassionate approach to animal care and welfare.
- Demonstrated commitment to the organisation's mission and strategic direction.
- Strong diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.
- Experience with non-profit or “business for purpose” governance, fundraising, and financial management.
- Experience working with the NDIS through a Disability support provider and/or Disability Employment Schemes.
- A history of successfully leveraging networks, connections, and influence for fundraising or advocacy efforts.
- An innovative thinker and finder of solutions, with a record of achievement in a leadership position.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of our beneficiaries.
Time Commitment:
- Bi-monthly board meetings at the initial setup phase with the view to moving quarterly once operations are established, plus a minimum of 5 hours per month on committee work, fundraising, and other duties as assigned.
