About the role

The Orange Door (TOD) Screening, Intake and Triage (SIT) Practitioner will provide support to VACCAs Southern Metro Area (SMA) Orange Door Team by undertaking a range of triage related administrative tasks, providing intake and assessment functions to incoming referrals and self-presentations of clients ensuring that individuals and families referred for support are promptly and accurately assessed, identified, and triaged.

This process is critical in enabling the timely provision of tailored services to those experiencing family violence, child well-being concerns, or other complex social needs.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work (or equivalent) or willingness to work toward the qualification in line with the mandatory minimum qualifications policy or significant lived experience relevant to the work.
  • Awareness of family violence issues and the impacts on Aboriginal women children and families
  • Ability to apply flexible, non-judgmental and empowering approach to service delivery.
  • Knowledge of local family violence programs, accommodation, legal, health and community services within the region – or the ability to acquire that knowledge.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships with other agencies and experience with shared casework, or group work.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Family Domestic Violence models (MARAM,), approaches, theories and practiced when dealing with clients.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Information sharing scheme (FVISS, CISS)
  • Requirements: Current COVID-19 vaccination (including booster dose, as applicable), a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
