  • Salary: $85,120 - $91,586 plus superannuation and salary package

About the role

This position is responsible for formulating assessment of cultural needs in relation to Aboriginal children who are subject to a Guardianship Order in line with the Aboriginal Placement Principle.   

The position will assist care teams with the development, assessment, and review of cultural plans to ensure they meet the cultural needs of Aboriginal children and young people by maintaining and developing their connection to their Aboriginal culture and community.

About You

  • Commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose
  • Diploma of Community Services Work, or similar qualification which is studied over a minimum of two academic years of full-time study (or part time equivalent) or extensive equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with Aboriginal children and their families in a complex environment to gather and analyse information that promotes development and implementation of their cultural plan. 
  • Ability to advocate for Aboriginal children and communicate in a clear, culturally appropriate and respectful way 
  • Ability to build professional networks across a range of organisations and individuals to promote collaborative working groups that focus on meeting the best interests of vulnerable Aboriginal children and young people. 
  • Capacity to work both independently as a member of a team 
  • Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence. Current COVID-19 vaccination (Strongly Recommended).
