About the role

Cire Community School is a leader in delivering innovative programs to students from Years 5 to 12 who have disengaged from education. The Community School offers an alternative to mainstream schooling, supporting some of the region's most vulnerable and marginalised young people.

Our Student Wellbeing Specialists support a positive wellbeing culture at Cire Community School. This involves supporting students requiring assistance with their wellbeing needs on a day-to-day basis, encouraging engagement, providing interventions and referrals, working with external professionals and student support groups, liaising with parents/guardians and providing programs to student groups.

Working as a team, you will collaborate with students, teachers and learning support professionals to establish strategies that support self-regulation, assisting students to actively participate in their learning. Your days will be varied, always active and working with purpose to support the overall wellbeing of Cire students.

Due to growth and internal advancement, Cire is seeking Student Wellbeing Specialists to join our Yarra Junction, Mt Evelyn, or Lilydale campuses. We have multiple part-time opportunities, approx. 30 hours per week, for immediate start or commencing in Term 2 2022.

About you

As an experienced Wellbeing Specialist, you:

  • Have qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, Education or a related field
  • Have experience working effectively with young people and the ability to build rapport and trust
  • Have a strong understanding of the complexity of adolescent development and the impact of trauma on development and engagement in education
  • Have demonstrated ability to quickly, sensitively and effectively assist with the de-escalation of young people in moments of personal distress
  • Are skilled in working with students ranging from years 5 to 12
  • Are passionate about working with young people who struggle in mainstream education
  • Have a thorough understanding of Child Safe frameworks and regulations

Additionally, you will:

  • Be fully COVID-19 vaccinated, willing to be vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption, per the government mandate
  • Currently hold, or are willing to undertake, certifications including a Working with Children Check and National Police Check

Cire Services Incorporated is a uniquely 'local' not-for-profit (NFP) organisation. Cire is one of the largest NFPs serving the Yarra Ranges' diverse population and recently established itself in the City of Casey.
