Anti-Slavery Australia provides access to legal advice through the engagement of JM Burn Solicitor.

About the Role

The Anti-Slavery Australia team are recruiting for a Policy Officer to join their team in a full-time capacity for a 12 month fixed-term contract with the potential of extension. The Policy Officer will contribute to Anti-Slavery Australia by developing and disseminating policy and research on key areas of modern slavery law and reform. The Policy Officer will promote ASA’s strategy and advocacy to end modern slavery and prioritise the lived experience of survivors of modern slavery.

With examples, please outline in a separate document how you meet the following six (6) key selection criteria points:

  1. Highly developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to communicate with confidence and credibility in various contexts.
  2. Proven capacity to research and interpret complex legislation, policies, and procedures, and apply skills in research methods for policy development, with experience in modern slavery highly desirable.
  3. Knowledge of modern slavery, modern slavery stakeholders and advocacy engagement techniques
  4. Experience in policy design and strategic advocacy.
  5. Experience in developing engaging and effective content for a wide range of audiences.
  6. Experience of working directly with survivors of trafficking and modern slavery is desirable.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary: $100,695 to $111,394 pa (HEW 7)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months, with the potential of extension.
