This is a targeted opportunity and we welcome applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates. Based at the Charles Perkins Centre and joining a central, national project team, you will identify, engage, and consult respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health services and other key stakeholders to build their genetic and genomic health and research understanding, participation in, and leadership within the node and the ALIGN network.
This position is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days/ week based at Charles Perkins Centre, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, or the Garvan Institute offices. There may be some additional travel across Australia.
The NSW Coordinator, Australian Alliance for Indigenous Genomics (ALIGN) with the support from the ALIGN Operations Manager and leadership team, will support the NSW Node to progress the ALIGN agenda. This includes the development and implementation of a precision medicine platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW. The NSW Coordinator, ALIGN will ensure the NSW Node’s key deliverables are successfully achieved, including the support of the NSW Indigenous Governance Committee (NSW IGC); developing and coordinating genomics capacity building initiatives with the node stakeholders including Indigenous communities and health services; identifying local and national Indigenous genomic policy priorities for Indigenous genomics; and identifying jurisdictional capabilities and gaps in data systems for Indigenous genomics according to best practise security and data sovereignty principles.
