National Centre for Social and Economic Modelling (NATSEM) is regarded as one of the world’s foremost centres of excellence for microsimulation, modelling and policy evaluation. The Centre undertakes independent and impartial research that contributes to national policy design and analysis. The work of NATSEM has expanded substantially over recent years, with the Centre now looking to grow its contribution to policy leadership and the Australian Public Service (APS) even further.

We are currently seeking applications for the position of Associate Director - Business and Partnerships to join the NATSEM team.

Reporting to the Director, NATSEM, the successful incumbent will support the Director in leading the high-performing centre team, winning research and consultancy income (through grants, tenders, and direct commissions), building strong relationships across the university and with industries (particularly the APS), identifying and developing new research partnerships, managing NATSEM’s client relationship management system and responding to media and social media opportunities.

We are looking for candidates that have business or partnership experience in or with the APS at senior levels. They will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in project leadership, including management of staff, and success in leading small, high-performing, teams.
  • A strong record of success in developing and maintaining client relationships with public and non-government sectors, as well as in winning external funding.
  • The ability to work independently while driving others to work effectively as well as responding to the diverse needs of the team.
  • A strong strategic sense and can deliver NATSEM’s offerings in a meaningful way.
