Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Volunteering Program Specialist to join our team at Uniting. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering Uniting volunteering programs aimed at achieving growth in volunteer participation and Uniting services utilisation. As the Volunteering Program Specialist, you will collaborate with key stakeholders and volunteers, design and manage core volunteering programs, drive growth initiatives, and cultivate strategic partnerships within the community and corporate sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and volunteers to deliver and manage core suite of Uniting volunteering programs, including recruitment, retention, marketing, and corporate engagement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives aligned with organisation and People Experience strategies to drive growth, retention, and core enablers such as learning.
  • Influence program and service managers to ensure a best-in-class volunteer experience and participation levels meeting Uniting’s workforce needs.
  • Drive internal business development to generate new pipelines for volunteering within the organisation.
  • Collaborate with corporate teams to enhance organisational-wide awareness and positive people experiences for volunteers and their teams.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community and businesses to enable targeted recruitment of high-value roles.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program or volunteer management, with expertise in managing stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative work ethic.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organisation, forge relationships, and manage through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Experience with program design and large-scale delivery.
  • Experience managing diverse stakeholder groups of 100+.
  • Strongly process-driven to achieve efficient workflow and practices.

  • Experience in volunteer marketing, encompassing digital strategies like SEM (Search Engine Marketing).
  • Competence in workforce planning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading business development initiatives.

  • Understanding of Change Management: An understanding of change management principles and practices would be beneficial. The ability to navigate and support others through periods of organisational change is important.
