About the Role

  • Part-time permanent opportunity working 22.5 hours per week in Parramatta LGA.
  • Must be available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 3:30pm to 11:30pm followed by an inactive sleep-over shift and can leave the facility at 7:30am
  • SCHADS Award level 3.1 $37.35 per hour plus salary packaging up to $18,550 plus penalty rates or night differential and 11.5% Super
  • Penalty rates will be paid for shifts worked outside of core hours 

This Support Worker is responsible for the provision of safe and appropriate accommodation and support services to residents through the delivery of high-quality care to service users.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with intake and assessment where relevant to the role
  • Experience working with young mothers at risk of homelessness or early childhood
  • Develop and monitor support plans/individual case plans, based on Services Practice Guidelines
  • Provide individual assistance for clients (young pregnant mothers and babies) in line with support plans and identified goals
  • Advocate for client choice and independence.
  • Contribute to care planning.
  • Maintain high standards of conduct and performance.
  • Actively engage in performance management and continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to Uniting's values, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive working environment.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV (minimum) in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work or other relevant field
  • Hold a current National Police Check
  • NSW WWCC
  • Driver License
  • First Aid Certificate

Experience

  • 2+ years of Support Worker experience working with vulnerable people, Young Women or Women’s and Children's or those who have worked with domestic violence space or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues 
  • Knowledge of best practice for Specialist Homelessness funded Services
  • Ability to think on feet and support young women work through complex issues
  • Computer skills for timely and accurate client information
  • The role is designated for a female under section 31 of the Anti-Discrimination Act.

Even Better:

  • Previous experience working in Crisis accommodation
  • Cultural Awareness training
  • Mental Health First Aid

Uniting Homelessness and Community Services provides crisis service accommodation, case management and support to 16 to 24 year old expectant mothers or mothers and their children who are at risk of, or are experiencing homelessness. Including providing support to young mothers to gain housing, parenting information, childhood development, specialist community support and access to parenting groups.
