About the Program

Youth Enhanced Support Service (YESS) is an early intervention mental health program delivered by Uniting. We support children and young people experiencing emerging severe or complex mental health challenges, helping minimise the impact on their wellbeing while working closely with families and carers.

About the role

As a Senior Clinician, you'll provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions that promote child-led, strengths-based approaches to mental health and wellbeing. You'll work with children between the ages of 5 and12 experiencing mild to moderate emotional, social and behavioural difficulties, while supporting parents and caregivers throughout their journey.

In this role, you’ll work alongside a Senior Clinician and Psychiatrist, supported by the Service Manager, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while contributing to a collaborative and supportive team.

You'll primarily be based across two partner primary schools in Western Sydney (up to four days per week), with one day based at our Oatlands office. Appointments may also take place at the office as needed. Flexible work-from-home arrangements are available where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children.
• Complete assessments, care planning and ongoing case management.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools, GPs and other support services.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and documentation.

About you

You’ll bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Counselling (or equivalent).
• Provisional or full membership with AHPRA, AASW or PACFA relevant professional body,

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children aged 5–12
• Experience supporting children with anxiety, emotional regulation, and behavioural challenges & trauma and attachment-related needs
• Ability to assess and formulate issues across the child, parenting practices, family relationships/environment
• Experience delivering developmentally appropriate, evidence-based interventions, including play-based therapy, CBT adapted for children, and emotion regulation strategies
• Strong child assessment skills, including behavioural observation and the use of age-appropriate assessment tools.
• Ability to engage children using creative, play-based and interactive approaches.
• Experience delivering family-inclusive or family-based interventions.
• Ability to provide parent coaching, behaviour support strategies and joint parent-child sessions.
• Understanding of family systems theory and family dynamics.
• Experience managing family engagement, conflict and resistance.
• Ability to build strong partnerships with parents, schools, educators and external professionals such as GPs and paediatricians.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and Working With Children Check.
