This is a part-time contract opportunity for 32.5 hours per week, until April 2026 located in Liverpool. Starting base hourly rate of $43.74, plus shift loading if applicable, plus super, plus access to generous salary packaging options.

About the opportunity: 

Uniting Stepping Stones is currently looking for a Residential Youth Caseworker who shares our values—bold, imaginative, respectful, and compassionate—to join our Southwest Sydney team. If you're passionate about youth, trauma-informed care, and creating safe, homelike environments where young people can thrive, we want to hear from you.

As a key member of our 24/7 residential care team, you’ll:

  • Provide hands-on, day-to-day care and casework support to young people residing in our short-term accommodation.
  • Support the development of independent living, social and emotional skills.
  • Facilitate case planning that includes the young person and their family, aiming for safe family restoration where appropriate.
  • Help create a supportive, trauma-informed home environment.
  • Coordinate and participate in structured daily activities, education support, house routines, and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily reports and financial documentation.

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable and at-risk young people
  • Knowledge of child protection legislation and the ability to respond appropriately to risk and safety concerns.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young people and families.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours using trauma-informed, strengths -based approach.
  • A collaborative team spirit and the ability to work flexibly across a 24/7 rotating roster.
  • A current NSW Driver licence and current NSW WWCC
  • Ability to work as part of an on-call roster
