Aboriginal Service Delivery Specialist - Communities

Identified position – open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only

Based in Parramatta CBD

Full-time or 9-day fortnight, Permanent position

Be part of meaningful change. Support communities to thrive.

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Aboriginal Service Delivery Specialist to support Uniting NSW.ACT’s Communities Directorate in delivering services that are culturally safe, responsive, and empowering for First Nations clients and communities.

This newly created position is part of our commitment to the First Nations People and Place Strategy — a strategy that drives our cultural capability and strengthens our role as an ally, advocate, and service provider walking alongside Aboriginal communities.

You’ll be based in the First Nations Strategy and Outcomes team within the Social Impact and Advocacy Directorate, and report to the First Nations Service Delivery Lead. You’ll work in close collaboration with operational leaders and program staff across our Communities portfolios, supporting the design and delivery of culturally strong practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with portfolio leaders to embed Aboriginal Service Delivery Principles across Uniting’s Communities programs.
  • Lead continuous improvement and practice uplift to ensure services are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and grounded in community voice.
  • Provide cultural advice and consultation to leaders and staff, supporting teams to grow in capability and cultural humility.
  • Coach, mentor, and build the skills of practitioners through reflective practice, resource development, and cultural learning opportunities.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and stakeholders.
  • Support service delivery innovation and participate in governance and quality forums to ensure strategy and actions align.
  • Monitor outcomes, contribute to reporting and evaluation, and advocate for sustainable change and accountability.

About you:

This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

You bring deep cultural knowledge, lived experience, and professional insight to this role — along with a passion for supporting strong, self-determining Aboriginal communities.

You're also:

  • Experienced (5+ years) in community service delivery, ideally in Aboriginal or cross-cultural contexts.
  • A confident communicator who can build relationships, influence change, and foster inclusive practices across diverse teams.
  • Skilled in coaching, professional development, and reflective practice.
  • Equipped with knowledge of the NSW/ACT community sector, cultural safety principles, and quality service frameworks.
  • Comfortable navigating complex systems and working collaboratively in large organisations.

You’ll also have:

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., in Social Work, Community Development, or Community Services) or equivalent professional experience.
  • A valid NSW/ACT driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
