About the Role

This is a casual role (avg 2 shifts per week). Based in Port Macquarie / Wauchope

In this role you will support all families and children who attend Uniting Supported Playgroups and parenting courses, to enhance the wellbeing, life opportunities and social connections for children and parents.

You will also support the work with the local Aboriginal Community to develop and facilitate culturally supportive playgroups.

• Work with the Lead, Playgroup facilitator, Parents and volunteers to provide stimulating, creative and educational programs for children, families and carers
• Work with family members or with groups providing information, support, advocacy, and referrals as appropriate
• Support the delivery of Supported Playgroups and groups using evidence based programs to support childhood development and parenting strategies including Small Talk
• Maintain accurate electronic record keeping
• Debrief and brief inductions for volunteers when needed

About you:

• Demonstrated experience working with and understanding of children with special needs, from birth to eight years, in terms of screening, assessment, planning and implementing relevant programs, behaviour management strategies, and appropriate referral to other community services.
• Understanding and experience of strengths based practice and trauma informed practice when supporting children and families
• Ability to form and maintain relationships and work cooperatively with colleagues and other service providers
• Interpersonal skills, time management, flexibility and ability to handle crises
• Tertiary Early Childhood qualifications (minimum diploma level)
• Current drivers licence
• Current Working With Children Check
