Overview of Role
This role is a six month maternity leave position for a creative campaigner and communicator to work on our major campaigns including the Big Steps campaign for professional pay for early childhood educators.
The role requires someone who can craft and deliver a message that will move people to action.
We’re looking for someone with digital expertise who knows online platforms and can produce engaging and effective content.
This role will suit someone with an ability to think creatively and strategically to engage members and supporters and move people from online to offline action.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Content: Produce high quality written and visual content for a range of online and offline platforms, including social media, union websites and union publications.
- Design: Design material for online and offline platforms, for example workplace flyers and posters, and website content.
- Campaigning : Assist in developing and executing communications strategies to build activism and engagement across a number of United Voice industry campaigns.
- Social media: Manage social media platforms, including running online advertising campaigns.
- Video and images: Write, produce and/or commission powerful videos.
- Website: Manage websites and databases to facilitate communications with members and supporters.
- Undertaking other duties as directed by the Head of National Communications & Media.
Selection Criteria
The skills required for this position are:
- Previous communications experience working across digital platforms.
- Excellent writing skills including the ability to develop messages and produce communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Design skills including the ability to produce high quality campaign materials.
- Previous experience managing a website. Experience using Nation Builder is highly desirable.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated work ethic.
- Demonstrated commitment to the union's values – fairness, compassion, equity and the dignity of workers.
- Photography skills.
- Experience in producing and editing videos
Desirable Criteria
The following are desirable but not essential:
- Adobe Creative Suite experience, particularly Indesign capabilities and Premiere Pro video capabilities.
- Organising experience.
- Experience with online advertising
- Ability to manage a database and analyse and work with data.
- Data analytics skills.
- Experience using Nation Builder.
Formal Qualifications
The focus of this position is on digital and campaigning skills and experience, although formal qualifications are desirable particularly in Communications.
Eligibility to receive a Right of Entry Permit under both Federal and State legislation.
