About the Project:
The Equality Works: Empowering women in gender segregated industries Project will promote equality in male-dominated industries through activities designed to improve flexibility, inclusivity and conditions for women working in these industries.
The Equality Works project activities will deliver materials to support workplace leaders to create an inclusive culture in their workplace. These materials will be packaged into an Equality Works Toolkit, that may include audit templates, model clauses and best practice policies, as well as trialling role design to improve flexibility and inclusivity. They will be developed through research and consultation in the relevant industries.
Applicants who progress to interview will be provided with a more extensive project brief, in order to prepare for interview.
The Coordinator will lead the project team, with key duties including
- Developing a gendered lens review of current policies and programs in place in the ACT to support flexibility and inclusivity for women working in male dominated industries.
- Leading the preparation and coordination of research interviews.
- Overseeing research interviews and coordinating the analysis and collation of data into research report.
- Developing toolkits and guides to improve workplace flexibility and inclusivity, which may include draft model clauses and best practice policies.
- Leading the development and delivery of workplace education relevant to the project.
- Ensuring grant project timelines are met and that reporting requirements are fulfilled.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including the Commonwealth Government, regarding grant activities and milestones.
- Working with the Australian Council of Trade Unions on the national facilitation of shared research and reporting on union women’s projects.
- Assisting the UnionsACT Women’s Committee Convenor with the work of the Committee.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong understanding of union and feminist values
- Comprehensive knowledge of the barriers facing women in gender segregated industries
- Understanding of and experience working with Australian Legal Industrial Framework
- Demonstrated research ability
- Experience leading small teams or project work
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong organisational, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to be able to work in a small team environment
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience working in political, community sector or trade union movement
- Demonstrated professional development relevant to the field of gender equity or workplace health and safety
- Relevant qualifications in industrial relations, law, policy or politics, gender studies
The Project Coordinator will be employed under the Trades and Labour Council ACT Collective Agreement 2017 – 2019.
Conditions under this agreement include flexible working arrangements and attractive entitlements including 12 compensatory days off per year, 4 weeks annual leave, and a 30-hour working week.
