The Centre of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CEB) at the University of Melbourne is looking to appoint a part-time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology. Your primary role will be teaching epidemiology within the master’s degrees at the School of Population and Global Health and supporting the students interested in pursuing epidemiology as a career. You will work with a dynamic team of epidemiologists, biostatisticians and public health practitioners in the teaching field and will have the opportunity to enrich your epidemiological skills and teaching skills. CEB sits within the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, in the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne. Located in a picturesque Parkville, in central Melbourne, the University of Melbourne is one of Australia’s most prestigious Universities and consistently ranks in the top fifty Universities world-wide.

Within this role you will be responsible for coordinating and teaching subjects and will be specifically engaged in building online material for epidemiological teaching within the subjects you are coordinating.

This appointment is available at 0.5 to 0.6 EFT, with the appointment level to be determined by the experience and track record of the individual.

About you:

Minimum Qualifications Required / Skills and Experience required to fulfil the position:

  • PhD in epidemiology
  • Formal epidemiological and biostatistical training at a post-graduate level
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking high quality epidemiology and biostatistical research
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in teaching in higher education
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in research in epidemiology and public health
  • Demonstrated expertise with modern epidemiological methods in a teaching and/or research capacity
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team to achieve project goals and meet agreed deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and with autonomy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders at all levels of the University
  • A demonstrated commitment and interest in teaching at a Tertiary level

In addition to the above, the following are essential for a Senior Lecturer, Level C appointment:

  • A significant research or teaching profile at the national level as evidenced by research publications, conference and seminar papers, and/or research funding
  • Institutional impact through the evaluation of curriculum development at the discipline or interdisciplinary level
