  • Provide strategic, tactical, technical and policy leadership across campaigns involving corporate targets and opportunities
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with corporate stakeholders, alliances, regulators, investors, campaign partners and community organisations
  • Conduct research and analysis across science, policy, corporate governance and business systems to inform evidence-based campaigning
  • Support cross-organisational collaboration with communications, organising and fundraising teams to strengthen supporter engagement and campaign impact
  • Represent the organisation in high-level stakeholder engagement, advocacy and media opportunities
  • Contribute to strategic planning and collaborative leadership within the Campaigners Pod
  • Support campaign budget oversight, risk management and reporting activities
  • Mentor and support staff development where required and contribute to a collaborative, values-led organisational culture

This role involves interstate and occasional international travel, sometimes at short notice.

About you

You are an experienced strategic campaigner with strong political judgement, stakeholder engagement capability and a deep commitment to protecting the natural environment.

You will bring:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in corporate, markets, investor, advocacy or related campaigning
  • Demonstrated understanding of corporate governance systems, regulation and corporate influence pathways
  • Experience developing and delivering complex campaign strategies across multiple stakeholders and competing interests
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and relationship-building capability
  • Excellent communication and representation skills, including media and digital communications experience
  • Strategic, creative and solutions-focused thinking
  • Strong project management capability and the ability to work autonomously
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to work collaboratively across geographically dispersed teams
  • Commitment to the values, purpose and mission of the Wilderness Society

Desirable experience includes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, economics, policy, science or related fields
  • Experience in major donor fundraising
  • Understanding of the not-for-profit and environmental sectors
  • Experience working with First Nations people and organisations
  • Experience in shareholder activism or corporate accountability campaigns

Why join us?

At The Wilderness Society, you’ll join a passionate, independent and purpose-driven organisation with a long history of environmental impact and people-powered change.

We offer:

  • Five weeks annual leave (pro rata)
  • Genuine flexibility in working hours and location
  • 15 days personal leave
  • 3 additional leave days over the end-of-year shutdown period
  • Floating public holidays
