Assistant Director, Domestic & Family Violence Services - Domestic Violence Crisis Service

Turning Stones Recruitment Pty Ltd

Empower frontline teams. Strengthen service delivery. Drive operational excellence.

The Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) is seeking a highly capable, compassionate leader for the position of Assistant Director. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will provide operational leadership across the front-line teams.

You are committed to delivering best-practice programs ensuring high-risk clients experiencing domestic and family violence receive seamless, coordinated support—both within DVCS and through external agencies; without falling through system gaps. You are an escalation point for complex decisions related to client risk and safety, while providing hands-on support to frontline teams and team leaders when required.

A key part of your role will be assessing client needs and identifying gaps in the service system; and your ability to leverage data will help inform partnership strategies and support the Executive team to shape strategic advocacy priorities.

You are hands-on leader who works effectively in complex environments and are committed to ensuring DFV services remain accessible and effective. Your proven experience leading frontline teams in DFV, crisis response, social services, or a related field and your ability to manage effective program delivery will ensure your success.

DVCS envision a world free from violence and abuse, providing crisis intervention, long-term support, and advocacy to break the cycle of domestic and family violence. With a 35-year history of serving the Canberra community, DVCS are evolving to create a more integrated, effective, and forward-thinking service model. If you’re ready to lead one of the most critical DFV services in the ACT and make a tangible difference in people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.

Please also note; as part of your leadership responsibilities, you will participate in an on-call management roster, providing guidance and decision-making support during critical situations, including outside of business hours and on weekends.
