Tenants Queensland (TQ) was established in 1986 and seeks to represent the interests of all Queenslanders who rent their home including those living in marginal tenures such as caravan parks and rooming accommodation. We pride ourselves in providing specialist advisory services to renters, advocating on behalf of them, and securing improvements to Queensland’s residential tenancy laws.

The Role

The TQ QSTARS Community Education Worker (full time) is a critical role in working with the Statewide QSTARS Community Education Network to understand and prioritise community education needs and ensure that the needs of a broad range of population and tenure groups are considered in prioritising community education development.

You will develop community education and QSTARS promotional material to meet identified needs and ensure that standard community education products and messages include an innovative range of formats and that the program is appropriately branded, promoted, implemented and utilised effectively in a consistent manner across the state. You will work with the Regional Services Coordinator to provide community education program input into the development and delivery of the Regional Service Plan within the region.

Skills and experience

You will have relevant knowledge and experience, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Qld residential tenancy laws. The ability to relate to people from different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds is essential, as is a good understanding of how different parts of a community access and respond to information.

You will have the ability and extensive experience to coordinate a viable and broad ranging community education program and to develop and deliver community education programs for diverse groups that includes utilising innovative mechanisms to develop activities, including drawing on information technology. You will have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, consultation, inter-personal skills and computer literacy and strong ability to complete project work within designated time frames.

Qualifications and experience in Community Education, Adult Education or Human Services or other related areas along with a current Queensland driver's license are desirable.
