  • Supportive professional team environment Our Personal Care Assistants work as part of an integrated team of carers and staff attending to the individual needs of residents and promote a person centered approach to care. They provide a high level of care and assistance to the residents while upholding their dignity and individual needs. Please note this is a Casual Position

We currently have casual positions available at our Seaforth Gardens Aged Care Centre in Gosnells WA 6110, for individuals, who are committed to providing excellence in care and the best possible quality of life to our residents.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will play key role in delivering our award winning model of care and make a real difference to residents' quality of life.

In the role of Personal Care Assistant at The Salvation Army, you will build strong, positive relationships with our residents and be responsible for the delivery of personal care and assistance to meet individual needs of our consumers. The role is to deliver homely and loving environments by providing care with compassion, respect, integrity and dignity.

You will be able to work under limited supervision and in accordance with the nursing care plan, e.g.:

  • Deliver comprehensive, individualised personal care to residents in accordance with nursing care plans (NCPs)
  • Assist in managing medication utilising medication compliance aids
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout each shift
  • Recognise and report all and any concerns relating to residents' health & well-being, to the nurse in charge (NIC) promptly and accurately & comply with all reasonable RN directives
  • Ensure the privacy and dignity of residents is maintained at all times and that all personal interactions reflect respect and compassion
  • Complete simple wound dressings
  • Implement continence programs
  • Attend to routine checks, i.e. blood pressure, temperature, pulse, blood sugar
  • Assist in managing residents with diabetes
  • Assist in the development of resident care plans
  • Demonstrate an ability to use a Data Base system

ABOUT YOU

We currently have Casual positions available for individuals, who are committed to providing excellence in care and the best possible quality of life to our residents.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army.
  • Must have a Certificate III or IV in Aged Care and current First Aid Certificate
  • An understanding and commitment to the provision of truly person-centred care
  • Understanding of WHS and infection control principles
  • An understanding of Residents' changing care needs and how this translates in ACFI reviews
  • Computer literacy and experience with documentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to work in a team environment
