The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

Our philosophy is that every person deserves dignity, respect and quality of service and that no one should be without a safe, affordable and secure home. Services are free, voluntary, accredited and delivered by professional and committed staff.

The Initial Assessment & Planning program is required to deliver services to a minimum of 244 new clients per annum and provide a minimum of 224 Housing Establishment Fund assistances per annum.

THE ROLE

This exciting opportunity provides assistance, information and advice to individuals and families experiencing housing crisis as a result of homelessness or impending homelessness.

As the first point of contact for our homelessness services the position performs an important role in responding sensitively to the needs of people who are often experiencing personal crisis.

This role involves active participation as part of the Warrnambool homelessness team and broader Salvation Army Homelessness Stream.

Reporting to the Southwest Team Leader this position is located at The Salvation Army in Warrnambool.

HOURS AND SALARY

This position is .56 EFT (21.5 hrs per week) fixed term position to 30 June 2021.

The role is shared with another Initial Assessment & Planning worker, who also works 21.5 hrs per week. The position sits within a homelessness services team that also includes three housing support case managers and a 2 Private Rental Brokers.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 4.

  • Tertiary qualification and/or experience in the welfare sector preferred

A current and valid Working with Children Check or is required
