THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Financial Counsellor to provide financial counselling, client casework and advocacy, and conduct community education in order to ease the suffering or hardship of people in financial difficulty or crisis, in accordance with The Salvation Army mission and policy, the Doorways model of service delivery, Moneycare policy and procedures, as well as to the requirements of the relevant professional accreditation, regulation and funding bodies.

Reporting to the Moneycare Regional Manager this position is located at Tahmoor.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time position, 15 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Depending on qualifications Level 3 (Training), Level 4 (Diploma) Level 5 (Accredited).

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, active listening and analytical skills
  • Proficiency working within a Windows Office environment Compassionate and non-judgmental
  • Ability to summon confidence and faith of client
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for training and development
  • Diploma of Community Services - Financial Counselling and have a minimum of 2 years experience in financial counselling
  • Member of the Financial Counselling Australia NSW (FCAN)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a counselling framework is highly regarded
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation and information pertaining to financial issues or any other para legal experience
  • Degree qualifications or extensive experience in the fields of welfare, finance, community services, psychology or business fields
  • A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
