About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Cook for our Homelessness Metro Regional Catering team to undertake cooking duties for the Catering Services Program, including meal provision and meeting all regulatory requirements.

The main kitchen is located at Flagstaff Accommodation in West Melbourne. Meals are provided 7 days a week to all 3 residential sites within Homelessness Melbourne Metro region which are located at Flagstaff Accommodation - West Melbourne, The Open Door - North Melbourne, and Foley House - Footscray. Travel on sites may be required, the role primarily operates from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm; however, flexibility to work on any day of the week (depending on service requirements) is important.

Reporting to the Catering Services Team leader this is a permanent Full-time role, Max- term (12 months) position.

You will successfully:

• Assist the Catering Service Team Leader and the Senior Cook to act as their delegate in the provision of the meal program
• Delegate, support, and coach kitchen staff with daily kitchen tasks
• Maintain all equipment in excellent working condition and to ensure regular services take place
• Contribute towards the development of program documentation including the program manual, and safe workplace practice guidelines
• Provide high quality meals for 154 residents at Flagstaff Accommodation, The Open Door and Foley House

You will have:

• Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) and experience in a residential setting
• Food Handlers Supervisor's Certificate
• Awareness and understanding of the common presenting issues associated with people experiencing homelessness
• Experience in a residential setting is desirable
• Applicants that do not have a Food Handlers Certificate will be required to obtain one prior to commencement of employment
• A valid current Australian Driver's License
• Working with Children's Check

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS LEVEL 3.1.
