About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Team Leader! You will provide a range of Community Engagement Programs aimed at supporting people experiencing homelessness reach their full potential.

Additionally, you will work across Flagstaff and The Open Door residential services to provide short-term accommodation and support for single men aged over 18 years experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities include:

  • Promote workplace culture of co-operation and accountability
  • Risk management strategies are implemented, risks monitored, and any incidents are acted on promptly
  • Current trends in Community Engagement & homelessness contribute to the continuous improvement of service delivery
  • Capability development plans implemented for team to improve service delivery
  • Focus team to maintain high level of awareness of sector issues
  • Fosters a culture of a Rights Based Approach for client dignity and excellence in service delivery

This is a permanent full-time position, based in Flagstaff and North Melbourne, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 6 Award.

You will have:

  • Degree Qualification in Community Development, Social Work or related
  • Relevant experience in the Social Service sector
  • Relevant experience in the supervision of staff
  • Advanced Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Use of crisis communication skills to reduce high conflict situations
  • Advanced organisational and administrative skills
  • The ability to support staff exposed to traumatic situations
  • An Employee Working with Children's Check
  • Participation in On Call Roster
  • A Valid Driver's Licence
  • A full Covid Vaccination
