The Salvation Army (TSA) Aged Care currently operates 2000 residential care places across 20 residential aged care facilities, seven retirement villages and a broad range of Community Care Programs. In the role of Care Manager, you will be an advocate for clinical excellence and be willing to ensure a homely and loving environment by providing care with compassion, integrity and dignity. Reporting to and working closely with an experienced Centre Manager, this position is an opportunity to demonstrate and develop your people management skills in a senior clinical role.

Working with a passionate clinical team, you will be a mentor and hands on leader willing to share your expertise to ensure excellence in care for our residents and to encourage the development of other future leaders.
The position will also hold accountability for and consideration of budgetary requirements, continuous improvement, ACFI, education and statutory requirements. You will be supported by an experienced Centre Manager who will work closely with you, while giving you the autonomy to oversee clinical governance within the centre.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain overall accountability and responsibility for the clinical management of health and care outcomes of the Care Recipients in the centre.
  • Ensure that skills and knowledge appropriate to delegate the task/authority has been considered when delegating health and care responsibilities to other professionals.
  • Exercise critical thinking within an evidenced based framework to ensure the delivery of high quality health and care services which promote optimal health outcomes for the Care Recipients.
  • Promote and support a person centred culture values, respect and treats all people as unique individuals with needs, preferences and a past history.
  • Provide leadership in the coordination of nursing and health care services.
  • Provide clinical leadership to nursing and care staff that supports and ensures continuing professional development and currency of practice
  • Ensure the facility meets all regulatory compliance requirements in collaboration with the Centre Manager.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Centre Manager as required.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the values and ethos of The Salvation Army and to facilitate pastoral support where required
  • Previous experience in a clinical management role, Aged Care experience preferred
  • Previous experience in people management, such as driving performance and best practice clinical behaviours. A general understanding of workplace relations legislation such as the Fair Work Act 2009 would be highly regarded.
  • Understanding of Aged Care legislation and industry accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of ACFI and experience in optimising funding relevant to resident care needs
  • Ability to build excellent relationships with all stakeholders including residents, families and staff as well as external
  • Hands on leader with a "can do" attitude - willingness and ability to lead by example
  • Passionate, resilient and proactive leader
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical expertise - be an advocate for clinical excellence and promote continuous improvement
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and be part of a team
  • Current unrestricted registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency
