About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Casual After Hours Crisis Accommodation Support Worker! You will ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients and staff outside of business hours. Additionally, you will keep with the Case Management Plan for each client and the policies and procedures of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities include

  • Assess Client referrals (7 days per week including outside of business hours) from the relevant Entry Point programs and complete client intake
  • Practice sound assessment, referral, and intervention strategies within a crisis framework
  • Provide support consistent with the Case Management Plan with Gateways Case Management team
  • Protect the safety and wellbeing of all residents and children who are accommodated through Gateways
  • Maintain computer-based case management/information recording systems
  • Contact the On Call worker for guidance and instruction in accordance with the Gateways On Call policy
  • Ensure all vacant rooms are cleaned within 48 hours of becoming vacant

This is a casual position based in Croydon, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4 Award.

Availability rostering Monday to Friday:

Evening: 7pm - 11:30pm, Sleepover: 7pm - 8:30am, Day-time: 8am - 4pm, Midday: 11:30am - 7:30pm, Afternoon: 3:30pm - 11:30pm.

Must be willing to work sleepover shifts.

You will have

  • A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with accompanying highly developed skills in working with persons experiencing homelessness
  • Knowledge of service systems, in particular youth, housing and homelessness, Child Protection, AOD, Family Services and Mental Health
  • Understanding in applying Case Management principles and practice
  • Demonstrated skills in engaging homeless persons
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate - required (training can be provided)
