About the Centre

Sparkways Early Learning Footscray located within the Billy Button Children's Centre, offering programs for children who are six weeks to school age, including long day care and integrated government-funded three- and four-year-old kindergarten that is taught by experienced, qualified Early Childhood Teachers.

Working with Sparkways in our sessional kindergartens

At Sparkways, we value the Co-educator (Cert III minimum) and Diploma minimum roles equally. There are some differences in role and responsibility. Unfortunately, due to funding, there is a small difference in the hourly rate. Most of our staff in Coeducator positions have Diploma or Degree level qualifications. Please read our information sheet about working in Sessional Kindergarten.

About the role

Cert III Educator

  • We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Certificate III Educator to join our team on an ongoing basis. Offering 26.25 hours per week
  • The rostered working days are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:45 am to 5:00 pm, with an additional 3 hours allocated for planning on another day
  • The position is covered under VECTEA terms and conditions
  • Paid time off is provided during term breaks on a pro rata basis

Diploma Educator

  • We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Diploma Educators to join our team. Multiple positions are available on an ongoing basis. Offering 8.75 to 17.5 hours per week
  • The rostered working days are Monday & Tuesday - 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with an additional 2 hours allocated for planning on another day. Or Wednesday - 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with an additional 1 hour planning
  • The position is covered under VECTEA terms and conditions
  • Paid time off is provided during term breaks on a pro rata basis

If you want to increase your hours

  • Ask about joining our relief team on your days off to increase your hours and pay
  • Apply for other part time positions as they become available

Who we are looking for

  • Experienced & qualified Early Childhood Educator - working with 3- and 4-year-old children, including those with additional needs.
  • Skills to scaffold and document children’s learning in play-based, child-led pedagogy.
  • Experience in writing observations and learning stories, and using StoryPark.
  • Seeking part-time work with paid time off during term breaks.
  • Able to contribute to a child-centered, friendly team and known for being positive and energetic.
  • Interested in joining a community of passionate and like-minded ECEC professionals.
  • Seeking career progression opportunities while working close to the local community.
