Transgender Victoria (TGV) is Victoria’s leading body for trans and gender diverse advocacy. We work to achieve justice, equity and inclusive service provision for trans and gender diverse people, their partners, families and friends.

As part of TGV you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with trans and gender diverse young people across Victoria, and empower them to affirm themselves socially and in relation to the socio-medical systems that they wish to navigate.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO Transgender Victoria is currently seeking a community-focused General Manager to join our management team. The General Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations, staff management, volunteer oversight & supporting advocacy for TGD people as well as other responsibilities.

ABOUT YOU

  1. Experience in a senior management position, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.

  2. Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, financial management, human resource management, advocacy, and community engagement.

  3. Understanding of transgender and gender diverse issues, and a commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

  4. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers.

  5. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as business, management, or social sciences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategic Leadership: Implementsupport development and implementation of TGV's strategic plan with Committee and CEO, identify and prioritize areas for growth and development, and develop and implement programs and services that meet the needs of transgender and gender diverse people.

  2. Financial Management: Assist to develop and manage TGV's annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure financial sustainability.

  3. Human Resource Management: Recruit, manage, and develop TGV's staff and volunteers, providing coaching and support.

  4. Grant and government relationship management: negotiate, manage and oversee grants from funding partners (mainly government)

  5. Advocacy and Community Engagement: Develop and implement advocacy and community engagement initiatives, including identifying and building partnerships with community groups, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

  6. Fund raising: In addition to community engagement oversee an active campaign to raise funds, manage relationships and build a sustainable funding model for the organisation.

  7. Communications and Marketing: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that increases TGV's visibility, builds its brand, and engages key stakeholders.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  1. Experience working within the Victorian or National LGBTQIA+ Sector.

  2. Experience working with trans and gender diverse communities.

  3. Existing relationships with potential community partners and communities.

  4. Lived experience as a member of the trans and gender diverse communities.

  5. Lived experience including but not limited to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, people of colour, intersex people, neurodivergent people, and people with disability.

  6. Experience using platforms such as Google Drive, Zoom, Asana and Slack

  7. Experience with Reckon Accounts Hosted or other accounting packages.

  8. Experience using and maintaining membership management & donation management platforms.
