Transcend Australia is recruiting dynamic and committed Board Directors to:

• Contribute to long-term strategy and organisational leadership
• Apply expertise and/or lived experience insights to support our work working with families of transgender, gender diverse, and/or non-binary children and young people
• Be part of an exciting new organisational chapter with CEO renewal and strategy update

These are volunteer (unpaid) roles. Location is flexible and work is remote.

Please note that we are also seeking external (non-Director) members for our new Fundraising and Engagement Committee and our Nominations and HR Committee. These are advertised separately.

About Transcend

We exist to improve and celebrate the lives of trans, gender diverse and non-binary (TGDNB) young people and their families by providing peer support, connection, information, resources and education, and advocating for change to services and systems. Transcend Australia (Transcend) is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. We are a young and small but mighty organisation going through a phase of strategy renewal and maturing our organisational systems.

Who we are looking for

Following a recent Board skills matrix analysis to assess current capabilities against future needs as outlined in the strategic plan, we are looking for Board Directors who can bring some or all of the following skills, expertise and capabilities:

• Lived/living experience as a transgender, gender diverse, or non-binary person or as a parent/family member supporting a transgender, gender diverse, or non-binary person
• Governance qualifications and experience (GAICD or equivalent) is highly desirable
• One or more of the following specialist/technical competencies:
  • Accounting
  • People and Culture
  • Social media and communications
  • Advocacy and lobbying
  • Philanthropy, fundraising and giving programs
  • Cybersecurity and IT
